About John Tapper GMC | Paw Paw, MI

Driven by Community

Serving Paw Paw and West Michigan since 1963 with trust, personal relationships, and a commitment to our hometown.

Our History & Mission

John Tapper Automotive was founded in Paw Paw in 1963 by John H. Tapper Sr. with a simple vision: build a hometown dealership based on trust, personal relationships, and taking care of the community.

The original dealership was located on West Michigan Avenue before moving to its current location on South Kalamazoo Street. Over the years, we expanded our operations and added Ford alongside our established GM business. Today, we remain family-owned and are proudly operated by the third generation of the Tapper family, with Justin Tapper carrying on the legacy.

Our Mission: At John Tapper Chevy/GMC, we want you to feel like family when you visit us, and we treat each of our customers with the golden rule.
